We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join us at our new office headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Technical Writer role is an exciting career opportunity in a fast-growing hospital management firm. This role is responsible for creating guides and articles for end-users in a way that is informative but easy to understand and requires researching medical terminology and building a glossary, creating digital and hard copy materials, and working with various departments to gauge their content needs.
To be successful as a technical writer you must have excellent written communication and analytical skills as well as a sound understanding of the content you will write about. Your ability to evaluate and analyze complex information is second to none, and you have a natural desire to help people understand otherwise complex ideas by translating these into simpler messages.
The ideal candidate will leverage a broad range of skills and should have relevant experience that highlights their capability to conduct all technical writing tasks. He / she communicates and collaborates with team members and project staff to plan, develop and produce high-quality communication. He / she will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE
• Develop comprehensive documentation that meets organizational standards.
• Obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
• Write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights language that sets our users up for success.
• Develop and maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials, including research, usability tests, and design specifications.
• Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement.
• Develop user-friendly content in both English and Arabic.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (includes, but not limited to)
• Work closely with various departments and stakeholders to understand project requirements
• Independently gather information from subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation.
• Research, outline, write, edit new content, and update and maintain existing content / documentations / user guides.
• Research, create, and maintain writing templates and style sheets that uphold organizational and legal standards, ensure consistency and accuracy, adheres to the company style guide, and allows for easy data migration.
• Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with a consistent and cohesive voice across all documentation.
• Participate on cross functional teams to continually create, improve, and add value to the PDF, online, and tutorial, guides, and online help systems of the user documentation.
• Participate in a review process and does full edits on updated or newly written technical, general-audience, and administrative documentation and content including peer reviewing other team members work in terms of format, correct grammar usage, organization, and accuracy.
• Participate in planning the overall design of product documentation, for example, installation, user, and administration guides and other technical publications, such as release notes.
• Update and maintain team templates, checklists, guidelines, and existing user guides, as well as creating new user guides for new service / product lines.
• Composites (compiles and formats) large, complex technical documents using a variety of software and equipment.
• Maintains electronic drafts, reviews, finals, and archived files.
• Work with development and support leads to identify all documentation repositories and determine the best solution for data compilation and centralized storage.
• Work simultaneously on multiple projects, independently setting work priorities to meet changing deadlines and scope-of-work definitions.
• Ensure projects adhere to schedules and deadlines.
• Determines file formats for graphic images and imports and integrates with text.
• Adjusts processes to accommodate changes and resolve issues.
• Prints, assembles, and prepares final print submittals to regulatory agencies.
• Prepares and assembles final electronic submittals.
• Reviews final print and web quality.
• Tailors and improves templates and style sheets to fit project needs.
• Translate any content accurately from English to Arabic and from Arabic to English.
• Stay up to date of industry changes.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
– QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor s degree in Communications, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience as an effective technical writer or in a communications role.
• Experience creating and using infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, charts, workflows, and graphics that increase users understanding.
• Experience working with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders at different levels in healthcare management.
• Experience working with engineering to improve user experience: design, UI, and help refine content and create visuals and diagrams for technical support content.
• Provide examples or portfolio of technical writing experience upon request.
– KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS
• Must be bilingual in English and Arabic with excellent written and oral communication skills in both languages with ability to write clearly and concisely.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc.), and other general-purpose tools (Acrobat, multiple Internet browsers, Zoom, Dropbox, social media, etc.)
• Must have proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics.
• Must have strong analytical skills.
• Must have strong time management and project management skills.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work collaboratively and independently within the organization.
• Must be flexible, well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed.
• Able to multi-task with a willingness to perform a wide range of tasks and projects with little or no guidance.
• Able to manage conflicting priorities and deliver on the most critical assignments on time and within budget.
